1. Our product represents those who suffer from mental helaths issue like depression, escpacially athletes. Athletes, like everyone else, can experience mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and other conditions. However, athletes often face unique stressors such as intense training regimes, high-pressure competitions, and injuries that can take a toll on their mental health. Our film represents mental health in athletes could depict the experiences and struggles of athletes dealing with mental health issues. Peer review

Image
the last step is peer review. Now that i finshed editing all i had to do was get feedback, and fix what needed to be fixed. teh first people that wastched was my group. Naturaly. Then i showed my parents. Then lastly my friends. And my friends parents. the reception was great. But i encourageed them to be more honest. There were some easy fixes. One of them was the score. It was a little lackluster. Becuase i never got the rights to the song i wanted to use it was a struggle. I had to look through royalty free music. BUt it all seemed so bland. Like an ad. not a movie.SO i went back and looked more. I decied that the score with the use of no sound. And diegetic noises i could create more emotion. I finshed up editing and showed them once again. Much better.

Finish editing

Image
Now that we have filmed everything i can edit. I was able to finish editing the movie today. I organized all the clips in my phone. And uploaded them. Once i put them in the editing program in order i ran through the film to see what needed to be done. It was a lot. transistions were a major part. On top of that some clips length needed to be edited. Shorter or longer. Louder or quieter. This took a long time. A couple of hours. Once i finshed the transisions and everything ran smoothly i had to work on sound. This included extra sounds that needed to be added. Background noise. And most importanlty music. I had to use royaltty free music but i think i found the right song. Another major component was making sure the valoume sounded even throughout the whole movie. This took a lot of work. And double checking. But i finaly finshed. And it was time for peer review.

finishing filming

I am very excitited becuase today was our last day of filming. ALl we had left to film were the scenes where Trevor begans to better him self. These scenes take a while. This is becuase of a couple of things. One of which is it is a lot of clips. Lots of little peices that need to be put together. Unlike the other scenes we have done recently that have been shot in maly one take or clip. These last scenes are edited together. Another reason is that the beining of the "end" is very dialouge heavy. IT has a monolouge given by treovrs mom in the movie played by my mom. This scene is supposed to be very emotional. The delievery of the monolouge is crucial to understanding th efilm. It is trevors turning point. What makes him want to better himself. Becuase of this we had to get this scene perfect. It took many takes. Like, a lot. AFter we fimsished the monolouge it was smooth sailing. we finshed the rest of the clips. Which mainly consisted of training.

even more filming

Image
Today the scene we filmed was trevors doctor appointment and some of the scenes around his house. These scenes did not take as long as the others. This is becuase they are much shorter. Also becuase these scenes have less dialouge. This makes it easier for our actors to remember what they have to do. These scenes only reqiured two actors. Trevor and some one to play the Doctor. Our intitial idea was that i would play the doctor. But i didnt think i fit the role well. So we had to find some one else. I wanted some one who played the doctor to seem like they know what they are talking about. This was not easy to find. So i made a comprimise. Our friend luke really wanted to be in the movie. SO we let him. He was perfect. He got his lines memorized. And gave them perfectly. He was very confident on screen, and emotional. The next day we will continue to film.

More filming.

Image
The next scene we are filming is the one where trevor gets ingured. For this scene we did not need every member of our group. Only trevor and Ely. WE also needed some one to play quarter back. So i called my friend seba. He was perfect for the job. This scene did not take long to film. It consisted of trevor doing drills. Runnign routes. ANd getting hurt. Unlike some of the other scenes which dont contain many clips. This scene has many clips that are edited together. That means it is hard to see how the scene will flow untill after editing. I can still however, try my best. This scene is supposed to be fast passed. That means music and editing will set the pace. I beleive that a bunch of differnt angles switching baack and forth will make the scene feel faster. This scene has so may clips and it took many tries to get right. I think after editing this could be one of the coolest scenes in the movie. I am very happy with how it is turing out.

back to fillming

The next thing we did was film the scene were Trevor who plays RJ our main charcter is recieving therapy from his therapist played by Jade. This scene is a pivotal moment in the film becuase it is the first time when we see RJ suffering from depression. We have been planning for weeks to ensure that everything went smoothly. As we arrived at the location, we quickly began setting up the equipment and making sure everything was in order. The director,me, began discussing the scene with the actors and giving them direction on how to approach their roles. The scene was filmed in trevors dads office. We thought that it would most reseble a therapists office. One obstavle we faces was remembering our lines. There is a lot of dialouge in this scene. That means there is a lot to remember. This scene is not very long. However it is an uncut back to forth conversation where the characters have to deliever a lot of lines. This was tricky for obvious reasons. Of course the actors did not have to ...

Editing part 2

Image
A hard part of the production process is making sure that the movie reaches the limit. Even though we have not completed filming i have begun editing. Editing a movie is a crucial part of the filmmaking process. The editor's job is to take all the footage and turn it into a cohesive story. I must pay attention to pacing. Rhythm. As well as flow to ensure that the movie is engaging and entertaining. I also have to consider sound design and music. This creates an immersive experience for the audience. Color grading and visual effects are often added during the editing process. This enhances the film's visuals. All of these have an effect on the movie that must be up for discussion between the group. Color grading can make certain scenes depresing. Or uplifinting. maybe even happy. Of course nothing is finalized yet. Not untill peer review. There is still a lot that needs to be done. With both filiing and editing. But i am happy with the progress we have made so far.

Almost there...kinda

Image
We knew it was about time that we completed the filming process. Over spring break we had time to accomplish everyhting we cold not do previosuly. Now all that is left is to edit. In this fiming part we had to shoot the scenes with jade. This was diffcult for many reasons. one was that it had to match the length of the scenes with trevor at the therapist. It also had to line up with it. So that the conversation will be in sync. This is becuase when editing i will make it a split screen with both clips playing at the same time. This will give the effect that they are talking each other. This is one way i am trying to set our movie aprat from the others. I also reviewd all the clips we had. I made sure that the final project would be long enough. I was worried it was not going to be. To fix this, i added another couple scenes just incase that werent on the story board. I had to film these scenes by myslef. It was not a problem though i manged to get them done. I also gathered my group a...

production music

Image
The most challenging part of this project so far has been the music. Why is this? Well, for many reasons. For starters discussing what music we want to use for teh project. The group talked for a while about what we would choose. We narrowed it down to a couple dicissions. It was between seperate waty by journey. Hall of fame by the script. And Im a survior by destinys child. We then dicided we did not like that latter option. It did not match the aesthetic we were going for. THen i had to email the artists and labels asking for permission. I also messaged them on social media platforms. Sadly, none of them got back. This is when the process got challenging. I had to make the final decision to use royalty free music. I spent hours looking for the perfect songs to use. I landed on a couple. I decided to use them interchangebaly. Then i had to lay the music into the video. Then line it up with the clips. And mix the volumes to match.

Today i starting the editing process. I began it by first doing research. I had to reasecrh what editing software would be thebest to use. Multiple scenes needed a split screen so i had to factor that in to. I also needed an option that did not cost money. On previous projects i used Imovie. How ever to complete the image we are going for with this movie we need to use tools imovie does not have. So i had to weigh out other options. There are many editng softwares avalible online. After looking through online and assesing my own values to it. I decided to go with i movie. Overall, it seemed to be the most conveinet option. Then the next part was learning how to use the software. Becuase of my history with i movie i had to learn a new software. TO do this i watched youtube tutorials. After learning the basics like how to add videos and sound. Then i had to learn a major part of the process for me. How to create the split screen look. To do this, first you need to increase the number of ...

our first day of filiming went well. after filming i looked over the clips. I was looking for a couple of things. Ways to tweak the movie and make it better. I was looking for any mistakes. Anything that needed to be redone. Camera angles. And diffrenernt creative avenues i can take with the cinematography. overall, i liked th ediresntion we were taking. I looked over the story board again and thought of what we should fillm next. The next step is discussing when we could film next. We need our fried zane to use his house to film. He has a indoor gym that would be perfect for two of our training scenes. they are alwasys a lot of fhurdles when deciding a schedule. Then another scene we could film is the one where Jade, out group mate, is the therapist. This scene is very dialoauge heavy. This means that the actors will have to spend time memorizing theri lines. I am a little worried. I am worried that we will bw to cramped for time. A 5 minuete movie is a lot longer then the 2 minuete o...

production blog: getting started

Image
it is finally time to start filiming our short movie. Our group is having a lot of struggles finding a time to film. between my job. elys job. and jades job, we are struggling to find a time where we could all get together. after many debates, we landed on a time. this friday we decided that we will start to film. friday came and we were about to film. However, we forgot trevor had a hair appintment and coudnt make it. we still adapted to this situation and got together to film. becuase trevor is the main actor it is neccacary that he is there to film. Trevor is in almost every scene so we cant film without him. We were able to get done with filiming some of the first scene. another thing i had to accomplsih was the music. our group discussed what song or songs we will use for the film. after many debates we landed on one. seperate ways by journey. we thought the song has a perfect amount of emotion and energy that will match the film perfectly. what i had to do next way message the ba...

planning

My team and I sat down to schedule the filming dates. We started by looking at everyone's schedule. seeing what we could do to accommodate everyone. We realized that if we started the process early and met up about once a week on Sunday we would have the project finished in no time. Then we moved on to talk about locations to film. There were a to of options so we had to narrow it down and see what worked the best for our scenes. We came to the conclusion that the holiday park, my dad's office, and Jade's house were the perfect spots to film at. Next, we moved on to a simple topic of who will be in the film. And it was pretty easy we don't have that many characters just Me-Trevor Regli, jade Walrave, Ely Silverberg, Kacy Marshell-Ayden's mom, and luke Hamill- Ely's stepfather. Our film doesn't require many physically demanding parts except for the one scene where our main character gets injured. We are going to ensure we have the right safety gear on sight...

short film research: last 3 minutes

Image
The film I chose to research was the last 3 minutes. This short film takes you through a tear-jerking flashback of a man's dying life. The short film the previous 3 minutes differs from our drama because in the last 3 minutes it displays a life drama meanwhile in our movie we display a sports drama. A Typical life drama would often be slower paced meanwhile our sports drama would most likely be a little bit faster. sound can be used to assist in the creation of tension, mood, tone, and changes in rhythm. This short included little to no dialogue about his entire life showing his life early on and how he has progressively aged showing his adventures along the way, instead the dialogue is displayed through the characters' body language and emotions. This sound from within the film is both diegetic and nondiegetic, the diegetic coming from the different events such as the army or the new baby or the beach, and the non-diegetic coming from the background music trying to create an ...

Short film research: kiss chase by ebele tate

Image
For short film research I decided to watch the short film, Kiss Chase, Ebele Tate. I looked for similarities between the drama genre and this film. Common Sound: The film similarly uses non-diegetic sound to use calming music in most parts of the film. The film also uses background music to express emotion in the film. The film also uses sound effects which could be used in action films as well. Common Mis-En-Scene: The film uses similar costumes to the drama genre with shirts and jeans. The film also uses the sun as a primary source of lighting to show the sweat on characters which brings out the intensity. Common Editing: Common editing between the film and the action genre is the use of lots of shaky camera movement and enhancement of images. The use of jump cuts are common in this film I like how the drama genre appeals to bringing out intensity in film which is not the hardest thing to do. Filming the drama genre also sounds extremely challenging but still fun. I think film...

short film research: flasehood

Image
This short film features sound, set design, and editing that are all relevant to our film. The diegetic sound is the first thing that comes to mind. This is a technique employed in drama films to communicate the film's emotions. The sound in this film is employed to convey the shock and anxiety he is experiencing. A non-diegetic sound is also used to depict the film's surrounding feelings. To make the viewers in shock, the film uses a dramatic entrance of the main character. Then there are gunshots and people fleeing to add to the film's unsettling atmosphere. The mise-en-scene in the film is inspired by the clothing. The man is dressed in typical street clothing, and the girl is dressed similarly. All of the characters wear the costumes that they are portraying, thus it is a true representation of their personalities. This is primarily utilized in drama to depict how characters ibehave and respond to emotions in their everyday lives and attire. Continuous editing was emplo...
